Thanks for any recommendations you can give I have no idea what could be causing this and know it isn't the vcr or ports for sure. Thanks for any recommendations you can giveĮdited by leader2, 20 November 2011 - 11:35 AM.Īs I said it worked up until today and I have never encountered this problem before. It still didn't work and as I expected before uninstalling there were no exclamation points or anything to declare a problem.Ĭan anyone suggest what I should do? As I said it worked up until today and I have never encountered this problem before. I went to the device manager and uninstalled the vid box which prompted me to restart the computer.

I even checked the vcr on my tv to make sure it was working normally. As I said everything was connected properly and my ports are working fine. I checked the guide and followed the troubleshooting steps. The device was detected, but when I played the video nothing showed on the screen not even the normal black square. I then tried it with the Honestech software. The last time I used it (2 or 3 months ago) it worked fine.

I even changed the usb ports and this made no difference. I had a capture device (The Honestech vid box which had been working fine to this point) and everything was plugged in correctly. I followed the troubleshooting steps provided. If you have a USB video capture device, please check it is plugged in now and press Try again. You must have a video input device to connect your vcr to your computer. Today I was going to use it and then for some reason I couldn't.

Then I used Golden Videos VHS to DVD video capture software with the hardware and this improved the video quality. It was working fine if not with choppy video for months. I own a Honestech VHS to DVD 5.0 Deluxe video capture system. I would reboot my computer after every burn.Hi. At this point, I have not reinstalled Roxio, and I am not sure that I want to reinstall it if it is going to affect my system in this way. So I had to do a restore system to the point before which Roxio was initially installed, then all my updates shows and my system came back. When I would try to update, it said no updates selected.

Although I could see updates, and the update components were set to automatically receive.

This time when I went to do my Windows Updates, it said Windows had never been updated. So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling again using the steps given. When I tried to make a second DVD, it would although the program said it complete, it would not play in my DVD player, the opening title slide just played on and on, there was no disc menu, no options. A DVD was created and I was able to play it in my DVD player.

The first time I tried using the Record to DVD feature it worked. However as soon as I press the record button, everything stops. As long as I do not press the record button, I can watch the video, that means that there is a signal. In order to get the VCR screen, I had to hit unplug the S-Video and plug in the yellow video cable connection. It was funny though that when the playback screen first came up after the reinstall what I saw was the DVD video ball bouncing around on the screen.

plugged in the device and again for the first 10 seconds I see video and hear audio, however once the record button is hit, only audio is heard for about another 10 seconds and the screen goes green. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software. You seem to have more knowlegde about this than the tech support for Roxio. The computer is an e-machine with Windows 7, the VCR is Sanyo with but is about 5 years old. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, same thing. I tried moving the usb to another port, I purchased a S-Video cable, same thing. When I pressed the record button, the playback screen turned green or black and then said no video signal. Same thing happened to me, except that I got 10 seconds of video.
